Dealing with employees can be the toughest thing when running a business. Employees are the life and the blood of business. Your customers will judge your business based on how your employees treat them. So it is best to provide your customers with the top employees you can get.
First, have an employee mission statement. Something that lets all of your employees know what you and your company stand for. For example, at my friends restaurant their employee statement is ‘ We will always put the needs of the customer first.’ Your statement does not have to be long just effective.
Next you need to link your employees to your business. Meaning your employees need to see how their performance affects the business. Setup a reward and punishment system. When business is up reward your employees with a bonus and let them know why they are getting the bonus. When rules are broken make sure you take action immediately.
Next you want to create a warm and friendly environment for your employees. You want a feeling of teamwork not backstabbing. When your employees feel safe and secure they can focus on building your business. If your employees are having to worry about the little things business will slow down. Try to minimize the distractions and make the focus about the business.
Lastly show your employees that you care for them and it trickle down to your customers. However you treat your employees is the way they will treat your customers. Value your employees and treat them with respect. Go the extra mile for your employees and your employees will go the extra mile for you. Treat them fair and just. Follow these methods and you will have motivated employees, who will make your job a lot easier.
